Peter Soleimanipour was a composer and wind-instrument player from Tehran. He began performing professionally in the 1990s, explored jazz in a quartet and later formed his own ensemble to play his compositions.1

Life & work
Early life and jazz
Soleimanipour was born in Tehran in 1968–69. He learned piano as a teenager, then taught himself guitar. While studying painting at the University of Tehran, he began studying flute.1
In the early 1990s, he began working professionally as a graphic designer and taught himself saxophone. He started performing professionally in 1994–95 and, that same year, formed a quartet with three other musicians to explore jazz through its repertoire.1
His own compositions
For the 2002 album Qeshm Island, Soleimanipour joined several other composers in interpreting the island's music, culture and natural surroundings.2 In 2005–06, he formed the Peter Soleimanipour Ensemble to perform his compositions.1
Later performances
At Tehran's Niavaran Cultural Centre in January 2015, Soleimanipour performed with his own group and in a duo with Shahram Gholami.3 He said that the group's repertoire brought together compositions from the early 1990s that he had not previously had the chance to perform and newer pieces in a similar vein.3 With Gholami, he combined composed and improvised music, including pieces by both musicians. They also used computers and electronic tools in the performance.3
Soleimanipour died in 2018, aged fifty.1

از سال ۷۳ با حضور در صحنه همراه گروه آتین قدم به عرصه موسیقی حرفه‌ای گذاشت.
در همان سال به اتفاق علی فروردین، مهراب مقدسیان و عین‌الله کیوان‌شکوه «پرسیکو کوارتت» را شکل دادند تا با اجرای قطعاتی از تاریخ موسیقی جاز، این موسیقی را تجربه کنند.
در سال ۱۳۸۴«آنسامبل پیتر سلیمانی‌پور» را شکل داد که هنرمندانی چون ماهان میرعرب، پیتر آکوپ، حبیب مفتاح بوشهری، آرش پشند مقدم، دارا دارایی، آیدا نصرت، امین طاهری و میثم مروستی آذین‌بخش اجراهای مختلف این گروه از ساخته‌های سلیمانی‌پور بودند.

این هنرمند از سنین نوجوانی با فراگیری پیانو نزد خانم کارمن اوسوریو و متعاقب آن با نوازندگی گیتاربه طور تجربی وارد دنیای موسیقی شد.
همزمان با تحصیل در رشته نقاشی در دانشکده هنرهای زیبای دانشگاه تهران به فراگیری فلوت نزد احسان سامعی روی آورد.
او از ابتدای دهه ۷۰ ضمن آغاز فعالیت حرفه‌ای در رشته طراحی گرافیک، نوازندگی ساز سَکسفون را به‌صورت تجربی آغاز کرد.
پیتر سلیمانی‌پور، آهنگساز و نوازنده سازهای بادی، عصر امروز (یکشنبه ۱۸ شهریور) بر اثر متاستاز در سن پنجاه سالگی در بیمارستان توس دار فانی را وداع گفت.

برای شروع کار آثاری داشتم که از سال‌های بسیار قبل آن‌ها را تهیه کرده بودم و به دلایلی فرصتی دست نداده بود تا آن‌ها را اجرا کنم. آشنایی با نوازندگان بسیار خوب و قهاری که همیشه دوست داشتم با آن‌ها کار کنم بهانه‌ای شد که رپرتواری از کارهای اوایل دهه 70 و کارهای جدیدی اما به شباهت همان کارهای گذشته را برای علاقمندان اجرا کنیم.
برای این برنامه چند اثر که از قبل تصنیف شده بود به اضافه بعضی قطعات که در لحظه و بداهه شکل می‌گرفت را برای اجرا در نظر گرفته بودم. بخش‌هایی نیز از ساخته‌های شهرام غلامی بود.
ما برای اولین بار ایده همیشگی‌مان یعنی استفاده از ادوات الکترونیکی را توانستیم در نیاوران پیاده کنیم و با استفاده از کامپیو‌تر و نرم افزار‌های مخصوصی به بار معنایی کنسرتمان کمک کردیم.
