About Naghva
Naghva is a bilingual archive of independent Iranian music: a place to discover artists, listen to their work and explore the history they have made together.
Why Naghva?
Many independent Iranian artists receive little media attention, and their stories are scattered across interviews, personal pages, social media and music platforms. Finding a song may be easy; understanding its background and its place in an artist’s career can take much more searching.
I started Naghva around October 2026 to help bring those pieces together. I wanted to keep a record of what these artists have made, who they have worked with, and how each has contributed to the wider story of Iranian music.
An evolving archive
Naghva brings together artist biographies, recordings, collaborations and performances. Release information, credits, interviews and artists’ own accounts help place the music in context. Listening links connect that history to the work itself.
AI helps us research and organize a growing amount of material and prepare drafts. Claims are checked against their sources, with references available to readers. The archive is still growing, and there are gaps and mistakes to find and correct.
The aim is to make this music easier to discover and its history easier to access, both for listeners today and for people looking back years from now.
